Valentine Gifts for the Dog Lover Who Has Everything
Love is in the air, it’s February, and that means time for those hard-to-by-for dog lover friends who well, have everything. You know the type (I am one of those “types”): We have the shirts that proclaim our dog love, plenty of paw print-laden photo frames, and more puppy print socks than you can be count. That’s why you have us at Fidose of Reality. You won’t find any dog leashes or squeaky toys on this list: These are Valentine (and year round) gifts for the dog lover who has everything.
Miniature Version of Your Dog
Lucy Maloney creates scale miniature dog reproductions of your dog. The miniature dogs (and cats) are constructed using the finest alpaca, cashmere, silk and leather for an absolutely realistic appearance. The miniature dogs are soft with some flexibility – never breaking and happy to get in any pose. I know because Lucy has crafted two miniature versions of my Cocker Spaniels.
Don’t let the “miniature” in her product fool you; Lucy Maloney’s craft looms larger than life. Beyond Maloney’s talent, there are tools of the trade, and like any craftsperson, these are the items that help define the outcome. “With the help of German glass eyes as well as fine alpaca, cashmere, silk, and wool, I bring miniature pets to life,” Maloney says. She knows the miniature is complete when she sees the distinct spark of life in the replica’s eye.
Here are the two replica miniature versions she made of my dogs plus a gorgeous pair of earrings she crafted for me of my dog, Dexter, seen below.
How did she do it this time? “Wire and yarn, then alpaca fiber added tiny amounts at a time.. 1mm glass eyes.. detailing and Dexter,” Maloney shares.
I literally had goosebumps and still do when I look at these earrings — she even captured my Dexter’s smudge. Lucy can work with you on a miniature or pair of earrings. For a complete summary of her work, to connect and learn more, check out her website, Lucy Francis Maloney.
Remembering a Pet Loved and Lost
If you have loved and lost a pet, just like if you have loved and lost a human being, your role in their life on earth does not change. Once a dog has entered your life, you are forever a dog parent. The passing of a loved one never robs you of that title. It is with great love that the next product on our list was designed.
BioUrn® is a biodegradable cremation urn for pets that holds the entirety of their ashes, along with soil and a seed. Once prepared and planted, BioUrn grows a memorial tree. Created by pet lover, Lisa Brambilla, for pet lovers to help them create a living tribute to their beloved companion who has crossed the Rainbow Bridge.

My Heart Beats Dog® Swag
Some very interesting ideas! Thanks for sharing. The little felted earrings are adorable.
Even little paw prints and the detail is insanely amazing.
Well I think cat lovers would love this too. I just lost my precious beautiful cat to cancer last week. I miss him so much….I may look into this.
I am so sorry to hear that. I know all too well the loss and the sadness of losing a beloved pet. Yes, Lucy does incredible miniatures of cats, too.
Those are all cool ideas! Who wouldn’t love to get one of those?
Last year, Rob got me a wine bottle holder shaped like a German shepherd lying on its back, so the wine bottle is tipped into its mouth. And two wine glasses with German shepherds etched into them. I said, What? Did you google “Romantic gifts for the German shepherd enthusiast?”
All great ideas! I have a few dog lovers in my family who would love the mini lookalike dogs!
These are awesome ideas! I would love to have earrings made of our chow chow and our Newfoundland!
OMG those earrings are just too cute. I don’t own a dog but I want a pair.
OMG. I love those earrings and I don’t even wear earrings. I will check out her jewllery line and see if she does cats too. I noticed the hotels were booked for your Wiggle Butts event… must be selling out soon!
Those felted figurines are gorgeous! I want one.
The card is beautiful! I love beautiful cards but then I can’t bring myself to send them. I just want to keep them to myself and enjoy.
This Valentine’s will be mellow and the critters and I will enjoy a quiet day at home.
Thanks. Mellow and relaxing sounds fun!
OMG, those earrings are the best!
