16th Annual Fidose of Reality Dog Halloween Photo Contest 2026
Calling all spooky pups, canine comedians, costume divas, and dogs who would rather rock a festive bandana than wear a costume.
The 16th Annual Fidose of Reality Dog Halloween Photo Contest is officially open, with 16 winning categories and an amazing lineup of dog prizes thanks to our sponsors.
The contest is free to enter, and you don’t need to be a professional photographer. We want creativity, personality, fun, and dogs being dogs.
Contest opens: October 4, 2026
Entries close: October 28, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. ET
Winners announced: Friday, October 30, 2026
Each person may enter up to five photos, but each photo must be submitted as a separate entry using the form at the bottom of this post.
A reminder: Humans are not allowed in the photos, but you can submit up to five photos per person (separately). Don’t forget to check out the easy-to-follow rules and our fantastic sponsors, who offer almost $1,000 in prizes! AI is not allowed and any submtited photos using AI (we can check) will be disqualified.
How Are Dog Halloween Photos Judged?
Fidose of Reality’s independent panel of three judges will pick 16 winners who enter the contest. No voting or LIKES required! Judges look for:
- Adherence to the category
- Following the rules
- Being creative
- Not submitting the same photo(s) year after year
- Being original

You must be the owner of the dog or dogs in the photos. Dogs must not be in harm’s way. Don’t make your dog dress up if they don’t want to, please. Dogs who don’t like to dress up can wear a festive leash or bandana and pose with pumpkins, decorations, etc. Do not use AI or text on the photo. Watermarks are allowed.

No photoshopping or AI, please. Any photoshopped or AI photos will be disqualified. We want originality! You can watermark but that’s it. DO NOT SEND PHOTOS WITH TEXT ON THEM NOR PHOTOS WITH PEOPLE IN THEM. A WATERMARK IS OKAY, BUT ANY PHOTOS WITH TEXT ON THEM WILL BE OTHERWISE DISQUALIFIED. NO AI IMAGES (our judges know).
Can I Submit Photos I Entered Before?
No, as if they didn’t win the first time, they won’t win at any time. Be original.
Can Humans Be In the Photo?
No, there can be NO humans in the photo. Any photos that include people whether or adults or kids, will be disqualified.
Can I Use AI?
No, AI is not permitted. We want to see your real dogs and your real photos.
AI-generated or AI-altered images are not permitted. Any entry determined to be AI-generated or AI-altered will be disqualified.
Photos may not contain people.
Text added to an image is prohibited, with the exception of a photographer or ownership watermark.
By entering, you confirm that you have the right to submit the photograph.
Can My Dog’s Friends And Family Enter?
Yes! You can submit FIVE entries per person, please. Additional entries beyond the first FIVE will be disqualified.
How Do I Know If I Won the Halloween Photo Contest for Dogs?
Winners will be notified and will have 48 hours to respond. Winners will be revealed on Friday, October 30, 2026, in this post and via email.
Winners must provide their name and mailing address for prize fulfillment. Winners who fail to respond within 48 hours of winning will be disqualified and the runner-up will be selected.
You must be 18 years or older to enter.
Can International Dog Parents Enter?
Yes, the prize pack for International members is listed below.
All winning images will appear across our social media channels and you provide us with permission to share your entries on social media and add you to our email list. We never sell names or email addresses. See rules below.

The contest is open to eligible United States entrants except for the Best International Entry category, which is open to entrants outside the United States. Physical sponsor prizes are shipped within the United States only. The designated International winner receives the International prize pack.
