Fidose of Reality is here in Salt Lake City, Utah, covering all the news that’s fit to wag at BlogPaws. BlogPaws is a year-round social media community that culminates with a yearly conference. People from all walks of life, all paws of life and all areas of the country — some from overseas — come together in the name of animals and blogging about them.
As the PR (Puppy Relations Director) of Fidose of Reality, Dexter got a Cocker Spaniel’s behind-the-scenes look at the hottest pooches, people, and products on the pet scene. Day one kicked off with a video production workshop by Kenn Bell, founder of The Dog Files and producer of Hero Dogs of 9/11 on Animal Planet. A good dog knows where to find the best spot in a crowded conference room.
From conference room to skating surface, we headed outdoors for a presentation from Natural Balance with special doggie guests, Norman the Scooter Dog, and Tillman, The Skateboarding Dog. We’ve never seen dogs who were so enthused to take their wheeling talents to the eager crowd. As Dexter looked on, Norman and Tillman delivered.
Onward to something cooling to the palate, and how can a dog lover resist an ale called “Chasing Tail?” Brewed here in Salt Lake, Squatters Pub has a fine golden ale. Even “cooler,” they give back with the The “Best Friends/No More Homeless Pets” program. They produced a beer cap unique to their bottling line and added the No More Homeless Pets logo and have a cap return program on the (get ready for it) Chasing Tail beer labels.
We were ready to Tango after the Tail and met up with Tango the Fire Safety Dog. His mom, Dayna Hilton, is a second generation firefighter and is the founder and Executive Director of Keep Kids Fire Safe Foundation, owner of Firehouse Dog Publishing, LLC and author of the award-winning, critically acclaimed children’s fire safety books, Sparkles the Fire Safety Dog and Sparkles Goes to Boston. What a paw-nor to meet this hero!
Making our rounds for some of the coolest products for pooches, we headed to the vendor and sponsor area. There are MANY products for us to find and feature to keep dogs safe, healthy, and having fun. One product that stopped us in our tracks, literally, shouted out, “Life Stinks!” With a mantra like that, we had to find out more. If you have pet stains or odor and wish there was a non-offensive, pet-safe product that delivers on its word, we share in this wish. We met with Jim Huffstetler, one of the Zero Odor co-founders. Jim sprayed ammonia (as in that wish is in cat pee, truly) into a Petri dish, then some Zero Odor over it. Within about 2 minutes, no odor. Stinking, and the lack thereof, is believing.
Winding down a very long day, but fused with energy, Dex and I made our final rounds, and the little man paid his fur-end, Kristin Elliott of Doodie Pack, a goodnight smooch.
We’ve got two more full days of dog fun, news, and products to report, so stay tuned with Fidose of Reality’s rovering reporting from BlogPaws 2012 Conference.
