After your Easter dinner and egg hunts, tune in for the Beverly Hills Dog Show on USA Network on Sunday evening, April 1st. This is no April fooling! Let’s go barking with the stars. The official hashtag is #BHDOGSHOW
Red Carpet Dogs and People
Be sure to watch David Frei on the Today Show on Friday, 03/30, as he will be on with Hoda and Kathy Lee at about 10:40 AM in with a Nederlandse Kooikerhondje, a Grand Basset Griffon Vendeen and a Havanese.
Watch the Beverly Hills Dog Show presented by Purina at 6pm PT/ET, 5pm CT on Easter Sunday 4/1 on USA Network. Please join John O’Hurley and David, along with Mary Carillo and Maria Menounos, for our 2nd annual BHDS. You may see me in the second row behind the celebs with my trusty assistant Naomi Lukaszewski
Here’s an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the show followed by some canine newsmakers to keep an eye out for:

Beyond the Bright Lights
English Toy Spaniel, Harry, competed for a spot in the televised portion of the National Dog Show. Along with his owner-handler, Jody Davidson or Cave Creek, Arizona, they have been deployed over 12 times as a canine search-and-rescue team. Davidson has shown dogs for 55 years!
From Backyard to Show Dog
Once dubbed an “out of control” backyard dog, French Bulldog, Claire Underwood, of Orange, California, underwent canine TLC thanks to handler Nick Phillips. Today, this pooch is a show dog and a part of this year’s festivities.
The Dark Knight
Sure, he is dark and handsome, but there is so much more to 3-year-old black American Cocker Spaniel, Gotham, owned by Drs. Colleen Keough and Randal A. Lake and Mrs. Stephanie Kaul, of South Pasadena, California. He holds the American Kennel Club record for earning five tracking titles within the shortest span of time: 9 months and 1 day. Gotham did all of this before the ripe age of two. He did this incredible series of feats while being show in the dog show ring for conformation. He holds additional titles in obedience, rally, and agility.
Check out our special blog post about Gotham the Cocker Spaniel.
Show and Service Dog
Ava K. Hata of Riverside, California, counts on her Flat-Coated Retriever, Bruin, for more than a good showing in the ring. Bruin is also her service dog, as Ava has had type 1 diabetes since 18 months of age. She is a junior handler who also takes part in agility, rally, obedience, junior showmanship, and formerly conformation with Bruin.
Enter to Win Swag
Don’t forget to enter to win some autographed memorabilia from celebrity host and emcee, David Frei, who is one of the commentators of the show (along with famed John O’Hurley).

Behind the Scenes at BHDogShow: Part One
When and Where to Watch
USA Network’s second annual broadcast of the BEVERLY HILLS DOG SHOW PRESENTED BY PURINA will air on Easter Sunday, April 1, at 6 EST/5 CST.
In addition to the Easter broadcast of the BEVERLY HILLS DOG SHOW PRESENTED BY PURINA, USA will present an encore on Monday, April 2 at 9 AM/8c, and NBC will air an encore on Sunday, April 8 at 1 PM/12c.
Tweet and Engage
This year, Purina is encouraging pet owners to participate in the “Every Dog is a Star” program by posting photos or videos on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram showing how their dog is the true star of the family. For every original post submitted between March 26 and April 8, using the hashtag #BHDogShow and tagging @Purina, Purina will donate five dollars (up to $25,000) to Mutt-i-grees, a program run by North Shore Animal League America. Mutt-i-grees helps show children the positive impact pets can have on their lives by teaching them important life skills such as empathy, friendship and kindness through interaction with shelter dogs. The funds will be used to help expand the program to more schools around the country.
