Why are two dogs getting wed?
To raise money and awareness of Cocker Spaniels in need of their forever homes, Fidose of Reality’s Puppy Relations (PR) Manager, Dexter, formally paw-proposed to his girlfriend, Zoe, a Cocker Spaniel who was rescued by Life’s Little Paws the day she was scheduled to be euthanized. Dog lovers around the world are invited to participate and send a gift. Hold up, though, we don’t want gifts for the happy couple; you simply donate to Life’s Little Paws. Ideally, every Cocker Spaniel mom and dad, every dog parent, and anyone who has ever had a dog touch their heart are invited to donate and make a difference. Dexter is so smitten by his rescue fiancée, he wants everyone to celebrate and help save other dogs’ lives!
When I visited the residence of fellow Cocker mom (and five-time rescuer) Val Sorensen, last year, we had an idea. What if our dogs got married — and instead of gifts, anyone who wanted to take part in the happy couple’s nuptials could donate money to a rescue instead? Do you think that might work? “I do,” Val said. “And I do, too,” I concurred.
The Wigglebutt Wedding is formal and we are planning a wonderful time, complete with media coverage, dinner, drinks, dancing, DJ, silent auction, sponsor tent, raffles, surprises, and more. All proceeds raised go to Life’s Little Paws. We are capping the human guest list at 100. Once we hit 100 people, the list will close. If you are interested in attending, tickets are $50 each, with proceeds going to Life’s Little Paws.
We will have 30-35 dogs in attendance in total, with several of those dogs serving as maid of honor, best man, as well as bridesmaids, groomsmen, and ushers/attendants.
The Latest Scoop
We’ve secured:
- A venue: Baldwin Center
- Canine couture designer for the bride’s gown and the groom’s tuxedo: Anthony Rubio
- Official artist: Missy Johnson of Dogs for the Paws
- Cake topper designer: Lucy Maloney of Designer Dog Miniatures
- Caterer: Food will be catered courtesy of Kiss the Chef Personal Chef/Catering Service, who provides a wide range of food choices from hors d’oeuvres, various ethnic cuisines, special diet meals, vegetarian, more
- Official florist with custom bride and groom floral sculptures: Table Art Event Designs
- Media Coverage: The Wigglebutt Wedding will be televised on News 12 Connecticut’s 13-years-and-running-strong television show, Pet Talk, with hostess Lauren Collier. The wedding will also be covered via blog circuit and traditional media print and online formats with local press as well.
- Sponsors: An array of pet product sponsors will be involved and helping to raise awareness of adoptable dogs in need of forever homes. Goodie bags, prizes, and giveaways are also a part of the fundraising fun and an evening with like-minded dog moms and dads.
- A DJ: Michael Guariglia of Touch of Class DJ will be our fabulous DJ for the gala
- Official Hotel: We also have a hotel block in place at Homewood Suites by Hilton Stratford nearby the venue that is pet friendly. We have a block of rooms reserved. The hotel is about 4 miles from the venue
U.S. or Canadian residents are welcome to enter, but you must provide your own transportation. Prize is not transferable. If you cannot use the tickets and hotel, the prize is forfeited. One winner will be chosen at random and notified by email that they have won. If winner fails to reply within 5 days of notification, another person will be selected at random. You must be able to attend the event in order to enter. If event is canceled due to unforeseen circumstances, prize will be voided and not substituted.
Details: 6:30 pm to 11:30 pm at Baldwin Center in Stratford, Connecticut. Formal affair. No gifts required, just a love of dogs and helping them.

It’s going to be wonderful, what else can I say?
I would love to join the happy occasion when two lovely dogs join paws and commit to share their treats and toys as a symbol of their eternal love. This sacrifice is made more beautiful by the fact that the treats are peanut butter, cheese, liver and pizza flavored.
Would like to bring our 4 cats and potbelly pig and cause utter chaos.
Would love to bring Sunday since this would be her first and only wedding since this girl is never walking down the aisle. Plus Sunday is 15 years old and not getting any younger. In all her years she has never flown or stayed in a pet friendly hotel. Would love to share this experience with my lovey dovey fur kid. And of course we would bring some lovely gifts for the lovely furry couple. My first dog before Sunday was Saturday who was a Cocker Spaniel who passed away from cancer over 15 years ago. He was the sweetest dog and will always hold a place in my heart. He lived a long fun filled 14 years & I miss his craziness and soft golden floppy ears. Only Saturday and Sunday have been the only puppers in my life all my 33 years! Just want to share something special with my special girl Sunday. She deserves a trip

There are so many reasons I want attend. First it is going to be the coolest thing I have been to in a long, long time. Two it is for the best cause of all to help LLP help more Cockers and three I finally get to meet a lot of my rescue friends that I have worked with and talked with for years. So excited!!!!

I have no greater love than Cocker Spaniels. As an American who will probably never be able to legally wed in my lifetime, I can think of no greater honor than to attend the wedding of Dexter and Zoe!
I would love to attend the wedding just to meet some of my online dog rescue friends who are also attending. In addition to my other three cockers, I adopted one of Life’s Little Paws dogs this year and have corresponded with the LLP folks and talked on the phone with them. Now I could meet them for real. I also have rescue friends coming from down south and would love to meet them in person, too. I’ve never been to a canine wedding before. This would be a very unique life experience for sure!
I think the story of this happy couple is awesome! I can’t believe such a wonderful love story happened. It just goes to show why its so important to rescue animals! Every dog I have ever had has been a rescue since this is such an important issue to me. I would love to be able to witness the miracle of happiness you gave to Zoe in person. I would love to “win” a trip to the wedding of the year!! I would so buy a dress to fit the event plus I love fund raising for rescue groups and the money I save in air fare could be donated to the charity. As a avid cocker owner and a avid rescuer of “other” types (Paco is an honorary cocker on the west coast and Chance hasn’t quite realized he isn’t a cocker only with short ears and a longer tail!)

Hi Carol, Puccini and I would love to attend and entertain at your wedding!! Puccini won the best trick award out of 87 dogs in the Hudson River Pet Parade and placed Top 10 at The New Yorkie Runway show during Westminster week because of all his great tricks. i was a Radio City Music Hall Rockette so Puccini had no choice…. he had to be a performer!! The first time I read about this wedding it so deeply touched my heart. There’s nothing I would love more than to have the chance to experience this wonderful day with fellow Cocker lovers! My Cocker Hollie is the very dearest thing to my heart. I wear a locket with her picture in it every day so I feel I have her with me always! Many people I know just don’t quite get the love I have for my dog. I want to celebrate that same love with others who feel the same! Especially a love for Cockers!
