Dexter and I attended the World’s Most Expensive Dog Wedding in New York City last year. The event was hosted by Wendy Diamond and all done in the name of charity. It was at this event that I had the idea for a fun fundraiser featuring my dog, Dexter, and his girlfriend Zoe. Well now, the Cake Boss has gone to the dogs, too!
Diamond shone like the star she is and Baby Hope captured the hearts, oohs and ahhs, of all in attendance. Major media covered the event, and yours truly attended on behalf of BlogPaws (see video below). The most expensive pet wedding in history was held in New York City at the Jumeirah Essex House on Thursday evening, July 12, 2012. The entire event was done in the name of giving back to animals. All donations and proceeds from the event benefited the Humane Society of New York.
While there, The Cake Boss rolled out their intricate edible artwork, and I was able to get some close-up footage of the cake. I am under a media confidentiality agreement not to share photos of the cake until the Cake Boss tv special featuring the dog wedding masterpiece airs. We might be on camera, and if so, you can check us out when the Cake Boss airs on February 4th on TLC (The Learning Channel). Check your local listings for times. We will share pics after the episode airs on Feb. 4th but here we are yumming it up:
BTW, representatives from the Guinness Book of World Records were in attendance to announce the canine commitment with all its trimmings became a new record holder. Dubbed the “Most Expensive Pet Wedding,” Diamond spent nearly $158,000 and broke the previous world record set by two cats in Thailand in 1996 (then a mere $16,241). With all receipts totaled, it is believed the gala hit a grand total of $250,000. We made the New York Daily News the following day, and were so inspired by Dexter in his tux that we decided to have a Wigglebutt Wedding!
Tune in February 4 for the Cake Boss airing featuring Wendy Diamond’s gala dog wedding and then join us on June 28, 2013, in Stratford, Connecticut for the Wigglebutt Wedding!
Thank you, Wendy, for the inspiration and helping dogs in need! It is an honor to know you! Please visit Animal Fair for more info and to keep up with Wendy’s travels.
