Debbie Kendall knows a thing or two about canine wisdom; in fact, some might say she is an expert in enlightened hounds. Debbie is a painter from the heart and an artist with a wag in every brush stroke.
I am very paw-ticular when it comes to the art work that graces my home. I see a LOT of dog prints (and not just the window art kind), paintings, and photographs in my line of work, and the Enlightened Hound’s Canine Wisdom prints stopped me in my tracks. I received a complimentary print from Debbie Kendall all the way from the United Kingdom. As a gift, a family member had it matted and framed for me and it now graces the entrance to my office.
What makes these Canine Wisdom prints so special? Debbie created the prints using authentic fonts from original posters of the Wild West and U.S. Civil War era. She hand-carved the letters onto printing plates and then put the posters through a special process using traditional linseed oil inks, using hand-mixed colours, inspired by the American Colonial era.
The colors are rich, the stock of the paper is fibrous, and the slightly distressed lettering is a mesh of vintage meets modernity in its style and appearance. Each print is signed and editioned in sets of 260, with each edition using a different color combination.

I love this idea, Carol! Dogs are always so happy and they have such unconditional love and affection, these words and attitudes truly are inspirations that humans should try to live by. I love the one that says, “If you want what lies buried, keep digging until you find it!” This is a simplified saying of wisdom that applies to everyone who has a dream. The encouragement behind it is just as I would expect the unrelenting, loyal dog’s to be and it is very true. If you want something bad enough and if you work hard enough to find what you seek, eventually, you will achieve it. You never know, if you stop digging, how close you are to finding that bone; so keep digging until you find it!
