Dog Trick or Dog Treat $1000 Prizes Giveaway #TrickorTreatDogs

trick or treat blog hop

It’s dog trick and dog treat time! Two things are at the epitome of our blog: Health and wellness for dogs. Part of keeping your dog healthy involves his or her mental well being. Despite the adage that you “can’t teach an old dog new tricks,” we say phooey! Dogs of any age can learn new tricks: It just takes a little gentle coaxing, working within the dog’s overall state of health, and knowing what does or does not motivate the dog. Top that off with major positive reinforcement in very short bursts of training, and you’ve got a recipe for success.

Speaking of recipes for success, Fidose of Reality is paw-ticipating in the first ever #TrickorTreatDogs giveaway featuring a variety of pet bloggers showcasing dog tricks and YOU win all the prizes. There is no need for your dog to do a trick: We just want to show you what our dogs know how to do. If you feel inspired to teach your pooch a new trick, now you have videos coming over the next week or so to show you how.

In the meantime, we are giving away some fantastic prizes to the tune of over $1,000 worth of goodies, just in time for Halloween! Thanks to Jessica and Luna from Beagles and Bargains along with Jodi and Kol from Kol’s Notes for coming up with this fab idea and inviting us (and our readers) to the fun!

Gimme the treats or no more roll overs, Mom!

Here is how to teach your dog to “roll over” – and always remember:

  1. Positive reinforcement
  2. Never force a dog to do something
  3. This is an advanced level trick – don’t do this trick if your dog has no clue what sit or down is. Start slow.
  4. Work in short bursts- no more than 10 to 15 minutes and always end on a positive note
  5. Don’t get frustrated or mad at the dog: Patience is key

Plus, every time you enter to win one of our Trick or Treat Giveaway prizes, you’re also entered to win one of our Grand Prize Packages! So visit each of these blogs in the hop below as it grows for more and more chances to win!

  1. Trick or Treat! Bailie is the first and only one in the family to do the rollover trick. Good job Dexter! It is pretty easy to teach, especially if a dog is younger!

  2. Hi! My dog knows Rollover! I think her favorite trick is probably ‘wipe your eyes’ and ‘Perch’ (which means to jump up onto an elevated surface like my back, a stump, or a chair). In the skill testing question, I am SO SORRY, but I live in the USA, so I said “Hey USA”, but I was typing “but the answer is 504”, but I was on my mobile phone and my hand got bumped. It ended up typing ‘ugly’ and then the enter button. I’m so sorry. I just don’t want you to think I typed that on purpose!!! Here is a video of my dog, Tonya, doing Rollover and some of her other tricks she loves to do: https://youtube.com/watch?v=fX9WHyJVh_E

  3. I would say her favorite trick is high five. I need to teach her some new or more exciting tricks! Her and Dex will have to have a lesson together to learn something new!

  4. my oldest Evie, is the only one who really does tricks. she can do several: prance, rollover, play dead, used to be able to walk on her hind legs and dance til she hurt her back which was my favorite.

  5. We taught our dog to wipe her feet before she comes in the house! Our friends laugh hysterically when they see her run to the door and wipe her feet — no command needed anymore. 🙂

  6. Gracie favorite trick is to sit, shake, kiss and tap. She has a tin w/ treats in it that she gets afterwards.

  7. My puppy’s amazing trick is to make his food disappear. We put down his food dish and look away for two seconds and by the time we look back, all his food is gone.

  8. Yum! I love pumpkin treats. So good for dogs! My dog’s favorite and only trick is to sit. She does it well, though! She poses for photos, which is so convenient in my line of work.

  9. Diamond’s favorite trick is to give a high ten. She gets so happy when she does it to 🙂 It’s so funny!

  10. My one dog’s favorite trick (or is it my favorite?!) s that he pops up on you, but very gently. It seems very thoughtful.

  11. Frankie’s favorite tick is to talk 🙂 We don’t have a name for it we just ask “What do you want? Whatttt is it?”
Bennett’s favorite trick is the handed shake and spin!
    What a great giveaway!

  12. My dog can hug! I’m still trying to teach her to say ” I love you” but after 8 years I’m starting to lose hope ;(

  13. My dogs favorite trick has always been shake. Both of them! They have definitely mastered it too! They are really aggressive about it haha. Thank you so much for the awesome giveaway!

  14. What a great giveaway so fun. Olivia and Jaxon favorite trick is to thief something from me. jaxon is great at pawing things off the table and Olivia thinks its ok to knock things out your hand. LOL

Their best good trick is sit.

  15. I’m not sure our St Bernard has any favorite tricks? Unless you count making any and all human food within reach disappear in milliseconds? I love the Thanksgiving themed decorate treats! So cute!

  16. Fantastic Prizes .. all this time I was under the impression that you could not teach an old Dog new Tricks. This giveaway has some amazing products. Fingers crossed I will win when I enter 🙂

  17. We care so much about our pups health and wealth. I try to find the best treats and food for them. We rescued them and they both are so so picky on what the eat…and I wonder why. This giveaway looks great and there will be a very happy dog running around soon!!

  18. Harley was a stray so, we’re happy that she answers to her name. Fetch kinda freaked her out. She thought we were throwing stuff at her.

  19. Dexter is definitely a master of that trick! I’ve tried “roll over” with our Lab mix Luke a couple different times with no progress. But you do it a little differently than what I was trying, so I may try your way next time.
Luke’s best trick I think is “close it”, he gets positively excited about closing cabinet doors, especially his treat cabinet!

  20. Shiloh’s favorite tricks are spinning and putting his toys away. Wager likes backing up, and also loves spinning and hand touches.

  21. Lumpy, our 13 1/2 year old rescued bulldog’s favorite trick is up alligator. He will rise up on his back legs and look like an alligator rising out of the bayou to get his favorite treat! He is so cute doing it!

  22. My dog Jaxton does about 10 tricks. He rolls over, plays dead, shakes hands, etc. But his best trick is identifying the hand that the treat is in. His sense of smell is awesome and he gets it right every time!

  23. My dog’s favorite trick is getting people to pet her. Unless you meant a trick that she actually does on command, then she likes to shake hands.

  24. My dogs favorite trick is he likes to give paw and high fives to get a treat. He will sit and wait for you to hold out your hand and ask him to give paw. Depending on which direction you hold your hand is how he responds.

  25. Nice job Dex!! Delilah did know roll over (although truthfully, I did have to kind of “help” her in the rolling part because she is just too treat focused. LOL

  26. My dogs favorite trick is to give one paw and then the other paw, buy she has my spouse trained that when he goes to use the microwave to warm up his coffee in the morning; she will sit there and bark at him so he will give her a treat…too funny
